Spring cleaning for your wellbeing

When it comes to spring cleaning, there are two types of people. Some people relish the chance to clean from top to bottom. Others dread it... or just don't do it.

Regardless of where you live on the spectrum, once spring is in the air, there's definitely a sense of excitement and rejuvenation that takes over. Up here in Minnesota, being able to walk outside without worry of ice or snow, seeing the first patches of green appear on lawns, the buds on tree branches, all of it is like an awakening. If you grew up with "The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe" (esp the amazing WonderWorks BBC version!) it's not unlike Aslan's restorative breath.

And on the note of restorative breaths, as spring starts springing, it's time for a spring cleaning yoga workshop in Minnesota. This Minneapolis yoga workshop will utilize a few different tactics to work through the things that hold us back. It's important to note that this isn't about changing who you are; just bringing a wabi sabi approach to wellbeing.

Nothing Lasts

Wabi-sabi, as described by Elephant Journal's Radhika Mia, is about accepting life as it is. An ancient Asian philosophy that find beauty in things due to their imperfections, impermanence, and incompleteness, it's a perfect metaphor for learning acceptance while uncovering your best self.

Nothing is Finished

Much of yogic philosophy utilizes this concept that, while we are as we're meant to be, yet that we're a constant work in progress. That push-pull is the cause for much of the discontent we feel. We feel like we need to be more; but you're perfect the way you are. It's just a matter of shedding the layers that preclude your best self to shine out.

Nothing is Perfect

Say you clean your home and space from top from bottom. Inside and outside. It's looks beautiful for... how long? And then the cycle has to repeat itself. Nothing is perfect, nothing lasts, and nothing is finished. These wabi-sabi principles reflect our workshop ideals. Sign up today!

DESCRIPTION The 'spring ahead' portion of Daylight Savings Time might just be the most hated day of the year. We're conditioned to feel like we need to constantly *find time.* And when it's taken from us, we resent it.

As we move through life, we consciously and unconsciously collect experiences that stick with us--mentally and/or physically. We might be able to present ourselves as stable and resilient, inside all of us resides a whirlpool of triggers for anxiety, frustration, pain, and more. When we have these negative feelings, we tend toward habits that make us less constructive and less productive. They’re essentially *stealing* our time.

As you start to prepare for the light and warmth of spring, turn your attention inward as well. Take the time to apply a 'spring cleaning' approach to your mind and body!
